Design, install, commission, and test a roof-mounted PV system on the MREA Training Roof.
Prerequisites: PV 101, 201, 202 (or equivalent training) or NABCEP credential
Course Description
(PV 312) Roof-Mount PV System Design & Installation Lab
Participants in this two-day (16-hour) course will learn how to correctly design and install a grid-tied, roof-mounted PV array. System layout, structural considerations, electrical codes and calculations, and safety standards and procedures are covered thoroughly through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on activities. Students will mount, wire, and commission a PV system from the safety of ground-accessible platforms that simulate a rooftop installation.
Approximately half of the course entails classroom instruction, and the other half is spent outdoors. Participants will have the option to climb and walk on MREA’s Training Roof to complete a short exercise and experience working safely at height in full fall protection gear with instructor supervision.
In-Person: Hands-On
