Industry Insight

We believe that solar plus storage is important to further our mission of creating a better life for society. Generating your own clean energy and storing it on site for use when needed is a major step towards energy independence and security for individuals and families. As our society becomes more electrified with EVs and other home energy needs, solar plus storage will become the standard on single and multi-family homes, as well as businesses that depend on electricity for their operations. We are excited and grateful to be a part of this energy transition.

– Dan Glaser, Sales Engineer of Panasonic

One of the biggest issues with the solar industry today is there are many installers and designers, and even end-users who don’t truly take proper battery charging into consideration. Many often make the battery bank too large and the renewables or recharging system are not designed large enough to handle the load, and fully recharge the battery bank on a regular basis. Many of our clients at Rolls Batteries see an average of 10-20 years of life from their flooded lead-acid batteries, this can be achieved by the proper design, and maintenance of a battery bank.

– Steve Higgins, Technical Services Manager of Rolls Battery Engineering

Why Solar+Storage

Often seen as the bridge between intermittent renewable energy resources and a clean energy grid powered by renewable energy, energy storage is an ever-evolving and increasingly important part of the energy mix. Energy storage can offer a wide array of benefits, such as: providing energy security during unpredictable power outages and increasingly severe extreme weather events, facilitating grid stability, providing fluid integration of smart home energy management systems, insulating against unfavorable policies towards solar, and speeding the adoption of renewable energies across the grid as a whole.

Most grid-tied systems are now being installed with the anticipation of adding batteries later on. And with the lowering cost of systems and increased demand of batteries, energy storage is changing from a rather expensive system cost adder to a cost-effective, essential solar component.

The future is electric, and the time for Solar+Storage is now!
