Dear MREA Supporters and Friends,
Thank you for your amazing support over this past year.
You make our work possible and inspire us to continue our mission to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living through education and demonstration. In service to this mission, we have dedicated much of our work over the last few years to helping people go solar. We have a simple strategy: deploy solar to change the way we use and produce electricity. If we want a more open, safe, clean, affordable, and sustainable energy system, then homeowners, business owners, cities, schools, and many more will need to be invested.
The important role your support plays in this effort cannot be overstressed. A glance through the MREA Annual Report makes clear that your support is being put to incredibly good use.
- Nearly 7 million pounds of CO2 and about 3.5 million pounds of coal were offset, creating cleaner air and a healthier environment for years to come
- Over 4 million kWh of clean solar electricity were produced
- Savings realized total nearly $475,000 for participants
In 2019, we are building off of these successes to launch the Wisconsin Solar Corps, a multi-faceted, multi-year approach to facilitate solar installations in numerous towns and cities across the state, support solar PV installations by schools and non-profits, all while providing training and work experience for new solar industry professionals in partnership with four Wisconsin technical colleges. With support from the aggressive and visionary Coulliard Solar Foundation and the continued support of US Dept. of Energy Solar Energy Technology Office, we are building the partnerships to begin activities in January. Over the next five years, we will be working tirelessly to support a solar workforce that changes the way we use and produce energy, one solar energy system at a time.
With your continued support, the MREA can and will do so much more to achieve a clean energy future for the Midwest. Thank you and Happy New Year!Pamela Ritger
