Getting the Renewable Energy Message Out!
Op-Ed Writing Workshop: Oct. 14, 2020
In partnership with The Progressive Media Project, we are inviting 20 individuals to participate in a virtual hands-on op-ed writing clinic. Our goal is to empower people with important stories to share with the confidence and tools for writing successful op-eds and communicating their messages effectively.
The Progressive presented a shortened version of this workshop at The 2019 Energy Fair. The Progressive Media Project will offer a virtual, but hands-on, training on Wednesday, October 14 at 3 pm. This 90-minute workshop begins with a writing exercise that teaches participants how to write their crucial first sentence.
From there, they will provide instruction on their own typology of four kinds of op-eds. Concrete writing tips, including how to overcome writer's block, how to construct an argument, and how to write conclusions will be offered.
Participants will begin work on their own op-ed and The Progressive editorial staff will provide feedback. After the workshop, participants are invited to pitch op-ed ideas to The Progressive or request editorial assistance before submitting your op-ed. In order to provide the optimal workshop experience, participation is limited to about 20 participants.
