CUSTER, Wis. (Jan. 3, 2024) — The Midwest Renewable Energy Association is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin—the funds of which will help empower solar, electrification, and weatherization for Central Wisconsin homes.
Aimed to support and expand the MREA’s Grow Solar Central Wisconsin program, the grant will help connect Portage and Waushara County homeowners to energy efficiency education and funding opportunities through the HOMES (home efficiency rebate) program supported by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Wisconsin was the first state in the country to begin utilizing these IRA funds to help homeowners increase the energy efficiency of their homes. Additionally, the program will engage contractors specializing in weatherization and HVAC electrification to support low-to-moderate income households in making sustainable home upgrades.
Since 2013, the Grow Solar program has offered 65 programs in six states, resulting in over 22 megawatts of solar installed on Midwest homes and businesses. By leveraging the power of community, Grow Solar helps reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions, and improve overall home comfort through its solar group buy program and free community resources.
