The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is accepting applications for the MREA Clean Energy Leadership Award through March 30th. Scholarships will be awarded to students studying in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, and clean technology.
Applications will be accepted from students residing in the Midwest (WI, MN, MI, IA, IL, IN, OH, MO) who possess a clear goal of desiring to make their community, environment, or world better and more sustainable place to live. Scholarships are made in the amount of $1,000 and submissions are invited from high school students, college students, graduate students, and non-traditional students. Criteria for awarding scholarships are based on leadership skills, student motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment. Applications are due each year on March 30 and can be submitted completely online.
Since 2006, the MREA has awarded 61 scholarships to aspiring leaders in the renewable energy, sustainability, and clean technology fields. Recipients of this year’s scholarship will be announced and honored for their achievements during the re-energizing of The 31st Annual Energy Fair, June 24-26, 2022 in Central Wisconsin. The event returns after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and will feature a new Clean Energy Career Fair to encourage networking connections and employment in what is one of the fastest-growing and well-paying careers in the U.S.
“The biggest limitation in our nation’s transition to clean energy is talent,” said MREA Executive Director, Nick Hylla. “Our scholarship program is aimed at supporting the next generation of engineers, policymakers, advocates, and educators to create a more open, beneficial, clean, and sustainable energy system.”
