Focus on Energy has been helping fund a variety of renewable energy projects at customer and business locations since 2001. These opportunities range from solar rooftop systems at customer homes or businesses to large wind and biogas energy projects.
Thanks to growing customer interest, numerous small to medium-sized independent businesses in Wisconsin have become involved in renewable energy installations at schools, churches, multifamily apartments, and governmental entities and agricultural producers. Due to this high demand, Focus on Energy has expanded its renewable energy offering in 2017.
Similar to past years, Focus on Energy’s Renewable Energy Competitive Incentive Program (RECIP) continues to provide incentives for cost-effective renewable energy systems installed at eligible Wisconsin businesses through a competitive request for proposal (RFP) process. Proposals for the next round of RECIP funding are due March 24, 2017.
New in 2017, Focus on Energy is offering solar electric (PV) incentives for eligible business properties up to $4,000 and continues to offer incentives for eligible residential properties up to $2,000. The geothermal heat pump system incentive for residential and business projects is $650 this year. Unlike the RECIP program, these projects are available through the Focus on Energy Home Performance Program and do not require customers and businesses to compete for funds. Rather, project funds are reserved and reimbursement of incentives is made through easy-to-complete online applications. Also noteworthy, new home construction solar electric (PV) projects are now eligible through the Home Performance Program.
