NABCEP PV Associate Package

Core Course Package

This package of three MREA courses (PV 101, PV 201 & PV 202) provides participants with the 40 hours of coursework required to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate exam in a self-paced online format. Our online learning system provides mobile app accessibility and an option for students to download their course materials to work through and access when not online.

Prerequisites: None
Format: ONLINE

PV 250

The Core Course Package includes the required textbook.

Students work through recorded presentations and exercises at their own pace. Successful completion of the three courses within the specified time frame qualifies students to take the NABCEP PV Associate exam. Students receive a certificate of completion after each course is successfully completed. Students can connect with an instructor in real-time and ask questions during Office Hours, which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-1 p.m. CT via Zoom.

Basic Photovoltaics (PV 101)

No prerequisites. This is the starting point for all other solar (PV) courses. You’ll learn the basics of how photovoltaic (PV) cells, panels, and systems work, explore different PV system types, look at all the system components, and leave with a general understanding of the technology.

PV Site Assessment (PV 201)

Prerequisite: PV 101
This course demonstrates how to recommend a PV system size and type, estimate its annual energy production, propose a location for the array and balance of system components, and summarize the economic impact of a residential (or small commercial) project by performing a site assessment.

PV System Design (PV 202)

Prerequisite: PV 201
This course teaches the step-by-step process of designing grid-tied and battery-based PV systems. Participants will explore sizing strategies, select appropriate equipment for each system type, identify mounting methods and related equipment needed for a safe and structurally sound installation, and calculate voltage, current, and power of the system to ensure its safe operation and code-compliant electrical installation.
