MREA Webinar Series — Safeguard Your Energy Bill

October 29 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

WHEN: Thursday, October 29 starting at 1pm CST

WHERE: Online via Zoom

This month’s webinar features Garrett Chappell, Membership Growth and Development Officer at Clean Energy Credit Union. Utility bills are rising, and most households aren’t prepared for what’s coming. In this monthly webinar, we will break down what’s actually driving energy prices up, what the market indicators are telling us, and how energy efficiency and solar can protect your budget. Whether you’re just starting to think about home energy upgrades or ready to make a move, this session will help you take the next step with confidence.

Garrett Chappell is the Membership Growth and Development Officer for Clean Energy Credit Union, and has worked at the intersection of credit unions and climate action since 2022. Born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota, he currently lives in Colorado, where he is an active advocate for all things sustainability, zero waste, and community resilience. In addition to his work at the credit union, he also serves on the boards of Ecocycle and the Colorado Environmental Film Festival.

Nick Hylla is the Executive Director of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association where he works in partnership with organizations throughout the Midwest to advance solar energy education and market development initiatives. Nick holds an MS degree in natural resource management, has 15 years of experience in non-profit leadership, and has served as the Principal Investigator on 6 US Dept. of Energy assistance agreements to support solar workforce development and help reduce the “soft costs” of solar energy development in Midwest states.

About the MREA’s Webinar Series:

Join the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) for a free, monthly webinar series exploring the renewable energy and sustainability topics you want to learn more about. These interactive sessions take place on the last Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. and are hosted virtually for easy access from anywhere.

The MREA was founded from our historic Energy Fair event — an annual gathering that brought together thousands of attendees to explore sustainability, clean energy, and actionable solutions for a greener future. While the Fair has since been retired, its spirit of education, connection, and action lives on. This monthly webinar series continues that legacy by creating space for learning, discussion, and community around today’s most relevant clean energy and sustainability topics.

These webinars are free and open to all. We do encourage participants to become MREA members to help support our work and ensure we can continue offering accessible education and advocacy across the Midwest.

Be sure to subscribe to our monthly newsletter to get updates on upcoming webinar topics, speaker announcements, and opportunities to suggest future subjects or organizations you’d like to hear from.
