This month’s webinar features Tara Greiman, Director of Conservation and Stewardship at Wisconsin Farmers Union. Many midwestern communities are facing large scale project proposals that will have huge long-term impacts (e.g., solar, wind, data centers and more). While policy, zoning, and regulation are important, one other important tool is the negotiated contract.  Tara will talk about what we’re seeing around the state in terms of community engagement and how to get a Community Benefits Agreement that represents the priorities of the community through protections and investments. Participants will learn about CBAs and the real details that hinder or promote their success and steps communities can take. The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to submit questions and learn directly from an expert working in the field.

Tara Greiman is the Wisconsin Farmers Union Director of Conservation and Stewardship. In this role, she connects the many conservation-focused projects of the WFU to help promote win-win scenarios that benefit farmers and the ecological communities around them. This includes working to promote water protection, soil health management, and energy systems on farms, while uplifting how responsible farmers are protecting their communities and environment. She also works with state partners, rural town boards, and local WFU chapters to promote the policy created by WFU members for a responsible renewable energy transition and agricultural economy that enhances rather than extracts from rural communities.
