Format: IN-PERSON
Location: Held at your location or at the MREA in Custer, WI.

The Solar Training Academy includes the following six MREA courses:

Working with Electricity (G 108)
This course provides participants with fundamental terms and concepts to understand how electricity works and demonstrates how to implement safe work practices to avoid electrical shock, arc flash, and job site hazards.
Other topics covered include circuit components, conductor properties, basic wiring methods and techniques, and how to use electrical measuring instruments (meters).
In-Person: 8-hrs

Basic Photovoltaics (PV 101)
This is the starting point for all other solar (PV) courses. You’ll learn the basics of how photovoltaic (PV) cells, panels, and systems work, explore different PV system types, look at all the system components, and leave with a general understanding of the technology.
In-Person: 8-hrs

Solar Site Assessment (PV 201)
This course demonstrates how to recommend a PV system size and type, estimate its annual energy production, propose a location for the array and balance of system components, and summarize the economic impact of a residential (or small commercial) project by performing a site assessment.
In-Person: 8-hrs

PV System Design (PV 202)
This course teaches the step-by-step process of designing grid-tied and battery-based PV systems. Participants will explore sizing strategies, select appropriate equipment for each system type, identify mounting methods and related equipment needed for a safe and structurally sound installation, and calculate voltage, current, and power of the system to ensure its safe operation and code-compliant electrical installation.
In-Person: 16-hrs

PV Design and Installation Lab (PV 304)
Hands-on training with no climbing required! This course demonstrates PV system design principles and proper installation practices through the construction of two PV systems – one that’s grid-tied and one that’s battery-based.
In-Person: 8-hrs

PV Exam Prep
Prepare to take the NABCEP PV Associate exam, this course shows you what to expect, and includes a 50-question practice test.
In-Person: 4-hrs

NABCEP PV ASSOCIATE EXAM
Passing the NABCEP PV Associate exam qualifies an individual to design, sell, install, or maintain systems in a supervised capacity.
NABCEP PV Associate Exam (2.5 HRS)
In-person or online test-taking available
