Op-Ed Writing Workshop: Dec. 3, 2020
In partnership with The Progressive Media Project, we are inviting 20 individuals to participate in a virtual hands-on op-ed writing clinic
A 2018 study published in the Quarterly Journal of Political Science, found that reading op-eds had “large and long-lasting effects on people’s views among both the general public and policy experts.”
Our goal is to empower people to share their stories with confidence. Members of the editorial staff of The Progressive magazine emphasize that an op-ed must contain not just the writer’s opinion, but carefully documented facts. It also must establish its relevance and newsworthiness.
Join us for a virtual, but hands-on, two-hour long training on Thursday, December 3rd at 3 pm.
Participants will begin work on their own op-ed and The Progressive editorial staff will provide feedback. After the workshop, participants are invited to pitch op-ed ideas to The Progressive or request editorial assistance before submitting your op-ed. In order to provide the optimal workshop experience, participation is limited to about 20 participants.
