Dear MREA Supporters & Friends,

It has been a year to remember. So much has happened this past year that only while reading our annual report did I put together the full sum of MREA’s accomplishments. Aside from our progress, it has been enlightening to see how the political narrative on solar and wind energy has changed in the Midwest over the last few years. We have officially graduated from talking about why solar and wind should happen to talking about how best it should happen. In most all public and private conversations the transition to clean energy is a forgone conclusion. This includes state utility commissions, governors, and utility executives. Yes, we are making progress.

Real challenges remain though and the market for clean energy is dynamic, making it important to understand trends, follow policy development, and anticipate changes. We do this to ensure that our training, public education, and technical assistance programs are responsive to market conditions and continue to expedite our transition to clean energy. At this moment, the trends are in our favor, we have a capable and motivated team, our balance sheet is good, and our services are in high demand. In our area of Wisconsin most people stand by the simple adage: You’ve got to make hay when the sun shines! This has us redoubling our efforts for the coming year.

We are well aware that none of this important work happens without the support of our members, sponsors, and donors. The best thanks we can give you is to use your money wisely, working tirelessly to make the Midwest a global leader in clean energy development. In short, that’s the plan. And, we’ll need your help.
